Mechanical Performance of MIG Welded Al-Mg-Zn-Er-Zr Alloy #worldresearchawards

Description

This study investigates the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Zn-Er-Zr alloy fabricated through multi-pass Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding. The addition of rare-earth elements such as erbium and zirconium promotes grain refinement and enhances weld stability, strength, and hardness. Detailed metallurgical analysis reveals how thermal cycles during multi-pass welding influence phase distribution, grain morphology, and overall joint performance. The findings provide insights for improving weld quality and structural reliability of advanced aluminum alloys used in aerospace, automotive, and high-performance engineering applications.
